Artwork Von der Kürze des Lebens

Portfolio Entry

Sometimes, we break glass and end up with a cut. Both glass and skin are delicate. Yet both protect.

A framed mirror with the text “VON DER KÜRZE DES LEBENS” written in black marker on it. The mirror is hanging on a weathered wall with peeling paint.

Establishing Context

Sometimes, we break glass and end up with a cut. Both glass and skin are delicate. Yet both protect. I used the glass as the base for painted words, similar to business window stickers. By creating a contrast, the title, “On the Shortness of Life”, inspired by Seneca, introduces the idea of time and age.
